Advisory Committees of the NITC GIS Council

Advisory Committee on Street Centerline-Address Databases was authorized by the GIS Steering Committee on 11-1-2007 to take the lead in developing and enterprise solution to developing, maintaining, and distributing a "best available" composite, statewide, street centerline-address database.  This effort has also been endorsed by the Nebraska Information Technology Commission as a "Shared Services" initiative.  The Advisory Committee will be convened in January 2008. 

Advisory Committee on Geospatial Data Sharing and Web Services Network was authorized by the Nebraska GIS Steering Committee when it adopted the Project Charter for this effort on 9-7-2006.  This effort has also been endorsed by the Nebraska Information Technology Commission as a "Shared Services" initiative.  This Advisory Committee is currently active and additional information on its work can be found here.

Advisory Committee on Strategic Planning was authorized by the GIS Steering Committee on 4-3-2007 to to help guide the Steering Committee through a process of developing and adopting a collaborative, comprehensive Strategic Plan for the development and maintenance of geospatial data, services, and coordination mechanism related to the geographic area of Nebraska by soliciting input from a broad cross-section (state, local, federal agencies, tribal, and private sector) of geospatial users.

Advisory Committee on LIDAR was authorized by the GIS Steering Committee on 11-1-2007 to assess the current status and perceived adequacy of existing Nebraska surface elevation data; explore the likely costs and benefits of utilizing LIDAR technology to collect enhanced surface elevation data for large geographic areas of Nebraska and; make recommendations related to possible future Nebraska LIDAR initiatives including technical standards, possible lead agencies, funding strategies, and timelines. The Advisory Committee will be convened early in 2008.
