Project Management

"To serve the Information Technology Services divisions by providing responsible, reliable project management services to our clients in an efficient, cost effective manner".

This mission statement is intended to compliment the mission of the Information Technology Services mission, while, at the same time, bringing focus to the project management function within the organization.

The charter for the Project Management Office will be the focal point for project management initiatives within the Information Technology Services divisions through the following functions:

  • Establish a Project Management Methodology within the organization. This Methodology will provide a framework within which projects will be managed. • acceptable tool sets available within the organization,
    • standards, procedures, policies, guidelines,
    • metrics for project success (measure delivered performance)
    • estimating practices(historical base, tools, techniques)

  • Perform research in the area of project management to insure that the organization is aware of and, to the extent possible, in step with currently accepted practices and concepts.
  • Evaluate tools, documents, processes, models, techniques, methodologies and training opportunities to determine their value to the organization.
  • Assist in developing Request for Proposals (RFPs) for project related products and tools which will aid the organization in enhancing productivity or adding value to our service.
  • Serve as a resource center and knowledge base for established project management tools.
  • Act as a liaison between the State of Nebraska and vendors of project management products.
